EasyHotel, Belfast – Good things come in small packages!

Hi everyone,

Last weekend we attended a wedding in The Merchant Hotel, Belfast. Now that we have moved out of the big smoke, it can make nights out in the city a bit difficult! We decided we would like to stay over and as much as we LOVE The Merchant (we got engaged there!) we just couldn’t justify booking an overnight there (especially a Saturday night) when realistically we were only going to be in the room for a few hours. So I did a quick search online and up came the EasyHotel!

I have known about the EasyHotel chain for a number of years. It first opened in London in 2005 and is part of the Easy group chain which includes the airline, EasyJet. Like the airline this means your stay is budget friendly….and we all know I love a bargain, right?!

When looking for accommodation I set the search for pricing: low-high just to see what would come up first. EasyHotel was right up there and yes although I did book it one or two months in advance via Expedia the stay was only £40….for a Saturday night….in Belfast city centre! It is incredibly central in fact, as it’s located on Howard street so perfect for a night out, a base after a long shopping day or a mere pit stop.

I was really excited to try it out as the hotel only opened at the end of August this year and I have always wanted to visit one of these hotels out of sheer curiosity and I had no idea one was opening in Belfast!

I predicted the rooms to be clean and small. In fact the room was VERY small in comparison to other (even city centre) hotels. I knew this from the outset as that is how the chain can provide a ‘super budget’ stay. And it’s part of the novelty for me. But what I wasn’t expecting was the really comfortable bed and Uber stylish decor (albeit with a splash of EasyJet orange of course)

We stayed in a double room although there are single occupancy, triple and family rooms available. Some with and some without a window, again depending on price. Our room had a window but quite frankly it wouldn’t have mattered given that we really only needed somewhere to lay our heads.

We had an amazing view of the new Grand Central hotel from our room 😍

WiFi is complimentary throughout the 4 storey hotel however what did amuse me were the optional extras. See below:

I really wasn’t expecting to have to pay to watch tv! We didn’t, but I guess that’s how they make their money! Checkout is early at 10am but for £10 extra you can avail of late checkout which is decent at 1pm!

My only issue with this hotel, like many city centre hotels is parking! On the website there is no indication of where you can park if staying overnight. As there is no dedicated car park that I am aware of. I know for most people parking won’t be an issue as they will be arriving by bus, train etc but it is a problem when you live in the sticks like us! Haha We were able to get a lift to and from Belfast in the end but maybe you guys can suggest somewhere that provides 24hr parking at a ‘reasonable’ price? 🤞🏻

After we checked out, while waiting for our lift home we nipped into the coffee shop attached, ‘Coffee 24’. I LOVED it! So cute and instagrammable…if that’s what you are after 🤣

It is perfect for tourists as the counter is surrounded by a make shift Harland and Wolff crane!

Everywhere you look in this little coffee shop you see something quirky and unique. I highly recommend calling in for a look. I will definitely be back!

All in all I REALLY enjoyed our stay the NEW EasyHotel, Belfast and already know I will be back! I can imagine it being super handy around the Xmas period, cheaper than a taxi home for most I would imagine!

Thanks for reading,

Emz xx
